About Me

My photo
Carlisle, Pennsylvania
I am a stay at home mom..now that is! February 19th, 2007 I was involved in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. I awoke in ICU to find out that my only two children Annemarie age 3 and Michael age 5 did not make it. Scrapbooking became such a big part of my life. It helped fill a void that I desperately needed to fill. Our therapist suggested that I take up scrapbooking as a way to memorialize my children, little did she know! So I took that and ran with it.I became obsessed with scrapping and took over the second largest room in my house. Because of my injuries I couldn't go out and get a job, I just scrapped!I printed out 2,000 photos and my journey began. I have made albums for family members and layouts to decorate my craft room. We thought we were done having kids but who expected this tragedy??? I just gave birth in June 2009 to two beautiful baby girls Mia Anne and Gianna Marie named after their brother and sister.I swore that I would keep up with their albums so I won't become overwhelmed so we will see how that works out! My profile picture is the last family picture that was taken of all of us.

CDD Daily Post

Good morning everyone!! I am here with you today to share a very simple yet elegant card and tag combo I whipped up.  I love being able to make things like this in mass quantities.

First I cut out two black scalloped mats using the die from Fancy Frame die set.  Then I cut out two pieces of watercolor paper using the stitched rectangle die that comes with that set as well. I embossed a deer that I thought was very simple yet pretty on it's own.  I did pretty much the same process for the card and the tag as far as putting it all together.  The sentiments and mistletoe on the card came from the newly released Tis' The Season stamp set.

To give the tag some strength I cut out four of the tag toppers from the Pocket Pieces Hi die set in black as well as one in the gold & black pattern.  I glued 2 black and the gold one together to adhere to the tag.  Using the last black one I adhered it to the back to finish it off nicely.
** I would like to mention that I cut out another white scalloped rectangle die to adhere to the back of the tag if someone would like to write on it.  However, I forgot to take a picture of it to show you.**

I finished the combo off with some CDD Couture Sequins and walah, I was done!!

I hope you enjoyed my quick and easy card/tag combo.

Have a great day!

Happy Crafting!

Fall inspired challenge at the Sisterhood

Good morning y'all!  I hope everyone is enjoying the crisp weather of Autumn.  I know I am.  I am looking forward to snuggling up by the fire with a hot cup of tea, just not the bill that comes with heating my house! lol

My fellow DT Sister Darlene is hosting a challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  The theme is "FALL".  I got this new paper pad by Doodlebug called Fall Friends.  I loved all the adorable fall patterns so I wanted to take advantage of them for this challenge.  I tend to oversee the adorable little tags and sentiments that come pre-printed in the paper pad so I thought I would finally use them on my card for this challenge.  To make all the layers on the card I used my Craftin' Desert Divas Fancy Frame dies.  The stitched and dotted borders jazzes up any project.

I hope you come on over and play along with us over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.

Have a great day & Happy Crafting!
Hugs,
Lisa

Sweet & Yummy linky party at CDD

Good morning everyone!!! Today is week#2 of the Sweet & Yummy linky party challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas.  I have been wanting to try to make a candy holder with the Fancy Frame dies for some time.  Took a couple of tries but I finally got one that I was happy with.

I used the Fancy Frame dies to make the base and the front pocket.  I scored the what would be the front pocket piece and taped it to the base and put some tape along the sides only.  That created the pocket.  Then I took the rectangle die from the set and adjusted it to the size I needed. I also cut out the top note looking die to add under the photo. The adorable snail came from the Sweet Wishes stamp set. This is a smaller 2x3 stamp set.  CDD does carry a few of those stamp sets in that size.  It is a great way to get a bunch of different images at a great price! The paper I used is also available at CDD.  It is Doodlebug's Sugar Shoppe paper pad. The patterns were perfect for this challenge.

This is a great way to make a super cute but cheap gift.  They are also very easy to mass produce.  The dies do all the work!

I hope you play along with our "Sweet & Yummy" challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

CDD October Stamp & Die Release Day - #2

Welcome to the CDD Stamp & Die Release Blog Hop.

All stamps & Dies are in the CDD Shop and now available for purchase.

Here's what I've created for you...

To make the frame of the card (window/door) I taped together the Stitched rectangle die from Fancy Frames and square die from the Pocket Pieces die set and ran it thru my machine with watercolor paper.  Before removing the tape I ran it through two more times but this time with craft foam, making my base for the shaker card.  I did cut out another solid stitched rectangle to put it all together.  I used watercolors as well as some distress inks to color the window. For the snow I used some Microbeads as well as the Snow & Ice Sequins.

To assemble the wreath I cut out the wreath looking die from the Circle dies that were released yesterday.  I cut it out like 6 times in two different colored greens.  I added the candle and the bow die from the Party Dies.  I was so excited that I had these dies because they really finished the wreath off and made it so easy to make this card! Stickles came in handy for the "berries" and for the candle.  Before I embossed and distressed the window/door frame I embossed the sentiment from Get Your Jingle on.  This is one of my favorite sentiments from CDD, especially because it is a nice size.

Last but not least I used the angled die from the new In Line dies for the blue matting and the stitched line die for the red matting.

I will tell you ladies, if you need to make a bunch of Christmas cards this is a great and easy way to use up your scraps and make them in no time.  The dies do all the work!!

Photo Inspiration challenge for CDD

Hey everyone!  Today is week #2 of the Craftin' Desert Divas photo inspiration challenge/linky party.  I recently purchased some new Strathmore Watercolor paper as well as some new shades of Tim Holtz's distress inks.  I have been dying to try them out.  I based it around the colors of the challenge (of course).

This is the photo inspiration we were asked to make a project based on.

This was the finished product.

First I made a template with my Outdoor Landscape dies on cardstock that was slightly larger than my card base.  I cut my watercolor paper slightly larger than I needed as well.

I started at the top with the lightest distress ink colors and worked my way down to the darker colors.  I simply moved and retaped my template to where I wanted it to be. After I did all the layers I went back to fill in any of the white areas I missed.  The photo below is before I went back into touch up those areas. I flicked some water on the paper to get the watermarks, blotting it dry before proceeding further.

Then I embossed the sentiment from Thankful Squeaks in CTMH Topiary embossing powder.  I added the leaf from Autumn Wishes (which I colored with my new Winsor & Newton Promarkers) as well as the small brown retro square looking die cuts using my Pocket Pieces HI dies.

It is a super fun and easy way to use your dies in a different method.  I had so much fun making this card I can't wait to make more in different colors!

I hope you come on over to Craftin' Desert Divas and play along with our Photo Inspiration challenge!! There is one more week left to play along.

Happy Crafting!!

Dies & Punches Challenge at the Sisterhood

Hello everyone!

Today starts a new challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters. My fellow DT Sister Terri is hosting a challenge called
"Die-lirious and Punchy".
The challenge is to make a project using Dies or punches. I used both!!

I punched the corners of the card base and the DP papers with my Stampin' Up! ticket punch as well as a large heart punch that I have had forever ( I don't know who makes it). I turned it into a shaker card using some red sequins that I got from Craftin' Desert Divas (I am not sure that they are still selling the solid red). The solid white card stock layer I cut using the Stitched and dotted line die from CDD's Fancy Frame dies. The sentiment came from PaperTrey Ink's Signature Greetings stamp set. To add a bit more pop to the card I added some Doodlebug LadyBug Sprinkles that I purchased from CDD.

The challenge lasts two weeks so I hope you come on over and play along with us!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

Things with Wings Linky Party over at CDD

Good morning y'all!  Today starts the second week of the "Things with Wings" challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas.  I recently got a new Doodlebug paper pad and I just loved the patterns.  I found this one pattern and designed my project around that.

I used Rain or Shine for the adorable duck.  I just love him!!! He is just too darn cute.  I colored him with my new Winsor & Newton Promarkers. For all the layers I used a combination of my Fancy Frame dies as well as my Pocket Pieces HI dies.  The speech bubble is from the Mix It up dies.  I did do several layers of the HI to make it pop up more. I put foam tape behind the first layer of feather paper to make it pop up from the card base.

I sure hope you play along with our "Things with Wings" challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas! You have this week to play along.
