About Me

My photo
Carlisle, Pennsylvania
I am a stay at home mom..now that is! February 19th, 2007 I was involved in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. I awoke in ICU to find out that my only two children Annemarie age 3 and Michael age 5 did not make it. Scrapbooking became such a big part of my life. It helped fill a void that I desperately needed to fill. Our therapist suggested that I take up scrapbooking as a way to memorialize my children, little did she know! So I took that and ran with it.I became obsessed with scrapping and took over the second largest room in my house. Because of my injuries I couldn't go out and get a job, I just scrapped!I printed out 2,000 photos and my journey began. I have made albums for family members and layouts to decorate my craft room. We thought we were done having kids but who expected this tragedy??? I just gave birth in June 2009 to two beautiful baby girls Mia Anne and Gianna Marie named after their brother and sister.I swore that I would keep up with their albums so I won't become overwhelmed so we will see how that works out! My profile picture is the last family picture that was taken of all of us.

Want to take a trip to Scotland? Visit the Sisterhood!

This week over at The Sisterhood of Crafters we are taking a virtual trip to Scotland :) The challenge this week is to make a project that has anything to do wih Scotland. I choose this adorable Westie from Delicious Doodles. Teri's images are truly a work of art and it cracks me up that she calls them doodles!! I can't even draw stick figures. If you want to get your hands on some of her images then make sure to take part in the challenge this week because one lucky winner will get their choice of 3 stamps from her store. How wonderful is that!!!!!!

I submitted this card to the
CAS - tastic challenge and the Practical Scrappers. I wanted to keep it simple and have the doggie do all of the work :)

The quickest card ever!

Last night I wanted to do a card but I was really tired. I knew that today was gonna be busy since I have 2 doctors appointments and I have to get ready for my sister coming in to visit tomorrow. I didn't want to miss some of these challenges so I came up with this card half asleep and in about 10-20 minutes. It would of been quicker but I never ever can make up my mind!!

I used CTMH Treasures stamp set and some unknown scrap paper that I have had forever. I cut out some white paper with my Spellbinders Nestie and added some ribbon that I have had forever . Then I mounted it with some pop dots for added dimension.

I based the sketch on Mojo Monday's challenge and the color scheme off of
SPCC color combo #42. I was so excited because I had all of the colors!! I love her color combos because I would never think to use some of the colors she lists together. I then added a "THANK YOU" stamp to fullfill the challenge over at Charisma Cardz.

My recycled project in honor of Earth Day

Hello Ladies! This week I was in charge of the challenge over at The Sisterhood of Crafters. This challenge is sponsored by DigiSparkle and she is offering up a prize to her shop for one lucky winner - so stop on by and play along!

In honor of Earth Day I challenged everyone to alter an item or recycle something that you would normally throw out. This is one of my favorite things to do because I can challenge myself to literally turn trash into a treasure. Since I am redoing my craft room I thought that I would make myself a sign for my door...why not?? All the kids have them right??? Plus I wanted to actually use some of my supplies.

I took a metal garden frame that I got from the $1 section of Target and a piece of cardboard that was on my floor from a package of curtain rods and just had fun with it. I wanted to pick paper that I normally wouldn't use (busy, bold prints) and see how it would turn out. In the end I really like the combo colors.

I cut the flowers out on my Cricut using the Graphically Speaking cartridge (flower pg. 44). I cut the flowers out from 5" and went down 1/2" till I got to 3" and just randomly layered the flowers until I got the look I wanted using lots of pop dots. I originally had a cute little face in the center of the flower from Peachy Keen but the size of the flower made it look ridiculous so I covered it up with some Liquid applique. The frame is 16" wide so I just simply took some scraps and sewed them together to make up the width then glued them to the cardboard. What made me happy was that I used up alot of my scraps!!!!!! YIPPEEEE

Here is a list of my supplies that I used:

PK-101 Medium Polka Dot print - I used this on the MS Grass border punch

PK-249 Honey Hugs & Bugs - I used the ladybug from this set above the title
PK-204 Lil' Bugs I know it is hard to see in the pics but I stamped these on vellum and then sprinkled clear embossing powder over it. I then colored the reversed side of the image with my Copic markers and cut out. I added some MS glitter to the wings and since I had to cut off the "ears" I used some metal wire from the trees that I just bought and wound them up.

MS Grass border punch
MS leafy punch (forget the name of it)
Bohemian DP
Prismacolor pencils
Copic Markers
Graphically Speaking Cartridge - for the flowers
Hello Kitty Font cartridge - for the lettering
Home Decor cartridge for the birds
Tim Holtz distressing paint - I tried to paint the frame and of course I didnt' prime it or anything so when I woke up the next morning it had all peeled off...but you know I just left it because it looked "distressed"!!

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Lexi's Creation Altered Item

Happy Easter Everyone!

Happy Easter everyone! This is just a quick post since I have to get ready for brunch & church. I haven't been able to be on my blog in the past couple of days because my craft room is currently being put together and I can't even get to my desk. You would laugh if you saw how I had to type this post as well as make the cards for my neighbors last night.
Sadly this was my first Easter not hosting anything big. Easter was always my holiday to have everyone over. So for a change we went to the Army base for a brunch with some friends. I wanted make a card for them but didn't have much time. The night before I spent all I could coming up with these easel cards.

The first one I made for my friend's who just lost their mother. Her favorite colors were purple and lime green so to honor her I stuck with those colors. Those are colors I am not usually used to but I tried. And the other one I came up with playing around with my new Spellbinders cross set. This was the first time I actually realized how to stencil the die cuts! To make them feel even more special I put the cards in an envelope! LOL! I tell all my friends...you know you are special when you get an envelope!.........told you I was a hoarder!!!

I put both of these cards into one post because of my time frame this morning. Sorry!
