About Me

My photo
Carlisle, Pennsylvania
I am a stay at home mom..now that is! February 19th, 2007 I was involved in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. I awoke in ICU to find out that my only two children Annemarie age 3 and Michael age 5 did not make it. Scrapbooking became such a big part of my life. It helped fill a void that I desperately needed to fill. Our therapist suggested that I take up scrapbooking as a way to memorialize my children, little did she know! So I took that and ran with it.I became obsessed with scrapping and took over the second largest room in my house. Because of my injuries I couldn't go out and get a job, I just scrapped!I printed out 2,000 photos and my journey began. I have made albums for family members and layouts to decorate my craft room. We thought we were done having kids but who expected this tragedy??? I just gave birth in June 2009 to two beautiful baby girls Mia Anne and Gianna Marie named after their brother and sister.I swore that I would keep up with their albums so I won't become overwhelmed so we will see how that works out! My profile picture is the last family picture that was taken of all of us.

Throwback Thursday

Good morning!

I am popping in here today to share with you a project I made for my Throwback Thursday post at Craftin' Desert Divas. I used Simply Said and Tissue Time stamp sets.  I embossed the sentiments on the watercolored background on the front of the card. I made a template of the background and cut it out on watercolor paper.  Then I used my Tim Holtz Distress ink refills to do some watercoloring...or my attempt at it that is! lol This card has lots of layers so it is pretty heavy.

I replaced the flowers on the tree with some of CDD's Pretty Petals sequins.  If you haven't done so already, you need to stop on by and check out their HUGE selection of sequins they now carry.  Lots of fun and different styles. I used some Bisque Liquid Pearls for the centers of the sequins. The paper I used for the inside is from Graphic 45.

Front of the card using Simply Said.

Inside of the gatefold card. Sentiment is from Tissue Time.

Have a great day, and Happy Crafting!

Mother's Day shaker card

Hello everyone!  Today starts a new challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas.  The challenge is to make a project for Mother's Day.  At first I had a fear of shaker cards, actually anything that shaked!! lol But with all the new and adorable SEQUINS CDD is carrying I have conquered my fear. And I am having a blast doing it!!

I found this file in the Silhouette store.  I shrunk it to 75% of it's original size.  I watercolored a background for the layer behind the butterfly.  Then I added some of the TWINKLE sequins from the CDD store.  First I stamped my sentiments using the newly released JUST FOR MOMS (the word Mom) and SENDING LOVE (I'll Love you until the day after forever).

The top layer was white and I really didn't like how that looked. So I grabbed my Spectrum Noir markers to color the flowers and stems as well as (tried to anyway) creating some sort of background design.  There are lots of layers on this card which I think really adds to it.

I hope you come on over and play along with our MOTHER'S DAY challenge over at Craftin' Desert Divas.

Have a great day and HAPPY CRAFTING!

Let's get shakin'!

Good morning!  Craftin' Desert Divas now carries a huge selection of sequins in their shop.  There are so many fun and different styles and sizes to work with.  I was so happy since I can't get anything like that around here where I live.

Here is a picture of the new ones that will be added to the store today.  Check out the awesome deal, buy 4 get one free!  She also has some bundle packs available which will let stock up and save!

I used some papers from Echo Park's Bundle of Joy line to make this card. For the sentiment in the center I used one of the pre-designed journaling type(..lol not sure of the term) that is included in their set.  I turned it into a shaker card by using several of the new sequins that are available starting today at Craftin' Desert Divas online store.  These would even make great confetti to throw on tables or to use in favors at bridal showers etc.  You can see all the sequins available at CDD HERE.

The sentiment I used is from Bitty Blessings which I embossed onto the paper in a blue powder.  To make the banner style cut out on the front of the card I used CDD's BANNER DIES.

A view of it laying down so you can see how it would look when the shaker card was shook or moved up and down.

Here is a list of all the supplies I used from CDD to make this card.

Monochromatic challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters

Good morning y'all!  There are two types of cards that I always have struggled with, monochromatic and CAS (clean and simple). As far as they both go I never know if I am doing it right. I always seem to over think or over do my cards which is why I struggle with the CAS cards.

Well today there is a new challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  The challenge is being hosted by my fellow SOC DT Sister Darlene.  The theme she chose was "Monochromatic".

I honestly cringed at first because it was out of my comfort zone.  But then I remembered some paper I just received from Simple Stories Color Vibe Lights line.  The double sided paper I thought was perfect for this challenge.  Don't ask me why but I decided to combine my most feared cards into one...lol.

So here is my take on the challenge while at the same time combining it was a CAS card (not really sure this is an actual CAS card but for me it is!).

The card itself is from SVG CUTS Carousel Ride kit. While looking for the paper I found some stickers from October Afternoon that I thought matched perfectly.  I used one of my Spellbinders dies to make a base for the stickers and label.  Next I thought to add some flowers or something but decided to just keep it simple, Shocking for me!!

I gotta say, Thanks to my friend Darlene, I may have actually gotten over my fears!

I hope  you all come on over and play along with our MONOCHROMATIC challenge at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  We do have four new Sisters that joined our Design Team and you need to come on over and check out their creativity!! They are awesome!!

Have a great day, and HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Hugs,
Lisa

Just BugCause....

Hey everyone!  I wanted to play around with the new April stamp release from Craftin' Desert Divas. I have been loving the new sequins they are now carrying as well so I decided to combine the two.  I used the flower card from SVG CUTS Tiny Miracle set.  I used the flower from the set and popped it up with some layers to make it a shaker card.  The butterfly and the sentiment came from the Just BugCause set. And of course I used the Just BugCause die set that matches the stamp set. I stamped the twirly flutter stamp as well as the sentiment underneath on the center of the flower.  Then I added some of the new CDD Starstruck sequins.  Great card to be used for any occasion!

Super Simple Saturday!

Good afternoon ladies!  I was in the process of trying to figure out a plan for my next project and this idea popped into my head.  Well I couldn't get it out so I decided just to try it quick. And then out of that my Super Simple Saturday was born!! lol  I thought I would do a photo tutorial to show you how to make some super quick and easy treat/gift holders.  Perfect favors for birthday parties, weddings or showers...really any occassions.

For my supplies I used the new stitched Banner Dies from Craftin' Desert Divas.  I wanted a bigger size so I used the larger banner die.  I cut out two of them as well as a white oval with the oval die.  The stamp set I used was SAY IT BIG.

I cut my paper down to 4 1/4" and stacked them so I would have to run it thru only once.  I have done up to 4 pieces and sometimes more.

Then I scored both pieces at 1 1/4" to give me my base.  Now you can make it thicker or thinner by simply scoring it at different measurements. But this is the width that fit my needs.

Next I adhered one flap over the other and burnished it really good. I used my hole punch to make a whole for the ribbon (lined up front and back before I punched the hole).

Below are two different styles of the same treat holder.  I was gonna add to it but I thought I would keep it simple so they were easier to mass produce.

Here's what I've created for you today...

For my first project I made an easel card using three dies from the Banner Die set
and Just for Mom.

For this card I used the large banner die to make the shaped card.  Then I used the  Rain Or Shine set to stamp some random rain drops and puddle splashes ( I used Stickles on both to give them a little bling).  To get the puddle I used my markers and drew it by hand, then topped it with Glossy Accents. For the adorable little girl with the umbrella I did some paper piecing as well as coloring her in with my Spectrum Noir markers.

Last but not least I made a shaker card with the Just BugCause stamp set. To get the sentiment the way I wanted it, I simply combined several of the sentiments from the stamp set. Don't forget, there is a special good for today only on the Bug stamp set and Die bundle!! Trust me, you will love it!!

The butterfly at top is actually popping out of the card (attached to the card base).  I used my dies to do this (similar technique to my Treat topper I made the other day) then cut out another one to put on top which I colored. I stamped the swirly thing on the card stock below and the die for the top layer.  And to make the shaker card extra cute I used the new TWINKLE Sequins which you can find HERE.

There is a link to this free SVG pattern somewhere in today's hop lineup.

We have a new lineup and freebie for tomorrow's hop.

Today we are showcasing the Rain or Shine stamp set.

Here's my project I've created for you...

Here is another card to help me on my mission to use up my scraps!  I ran some white paper thru my Cuttlebug in my Swiss Dots folder.  Then used a couple different TH distressing inks to ink up the different layers. Using smaller scraps I extended the bottom of the banner die.  To turn the oval die into a shaker card I used my 2"x 1 3/8" oval punch.  I added some of the newly added sequins to the center.  For this one I used the ones called Heartbreaker. I colored the adorable chick with my markers and paper pieced the umbrella with some of my scraps.  I also popped up the top layer with some dimensionals.

Today we are showcasing the JUST FOR MOM stamp set.

Here's my project I've created for you...

I think it is safe to say I am not the only one who has a pile of scrap paper they don't want to get rid of.  Well while I was making the projects for this release I had a bunch of paper (and it was my "good" paper mind you) that I had left over but they were on the small side.  I didn't want to toss them and thought to myself...hmmm you could make something out of them!  So I played around with the oval die and turned the smaller pieces into a flower! If the piece was big enough I cut the oval in half to get two petals, and if it wasn't I just simply ran it halfway thru the machine to get the size of the oval that fit the paper.  The leaf die is a fantastic way to use up the smaller pieces of scrap paper.  I popped the flower up with some SU! Dimensionals. I wanted to try and show a different way to use the dies and stamp set.  The leaves are from the Just BugCause die set that will be released soon.

These are the dies that I used.  I can't tell you enough how amazing these are and ooohhh so useful and handy!

Be sure to join us tomorrow for another great new stamp set.
