About Me

My photo
Carlisle, Pennsylvania
I am a stay at home mom..now that is! February 19th, 2007 I was involved in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. I awoke in ICU to find out that my only two children Annemarie age 3 and Michael age 5 did not make it. Scrapbooking became such a big part of my life. It helped fill a void that I desperately needed to fill. Our therapist suggested that I take up scrapbooking as a way to memorialize my children, little did she know! So I took that and ran with it.I became obsessed with scrapping and took over the second largest room in my house. Because of my injuries I couldn't go out and get a job, I just scrapped!I printed out 2,000 photos and my journey began. I have made albums for family members and layouts to decorate my craft room. We thought we were done having kids but who expected this tragedy??? I just gave birth in June 2009 to two beautiful baby girls Mia Anne and Gianna Marie named after their brother and sister.I swore that I would keep up with their albums so I won't become overwhelmed so we will see how that works out! My profile picture is the last family picture that was taken of all of us.

My forever Star - for the Sisterhood

Good afternoon everyone. It's challenge time again over at The Sisterhood Crafters. This week the challenge we have for all of our participants is to make something handmade as a gift for someone. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it is handmade. Now I don't know about you ladies but I tend to have all these grand ideas of all of these projects so I go out and buy all of the supplies I need. But in reality what happens is all of those supplies sit ontop of the other supplies I bought for previous projects that I never completed or even attempted.

Well with this challenge I was able to cross something off of my "Bucket List". My daughter's birthday is this week and she would of been 7 years old. It is so hard to believe and even hard to believe that she is not here to celebrate it with us. So in her memory I decided to complete this star project for my sister. Ever since the kids passed away she has been obsessed with anything with stars. I bought these metal stars ions ago to decorate one for my son and one for my daughte. I was going to give them to her so she can put them on her wall and see them when she is really missing them the most. The only problem is, that I fell in love with the project so much I just don't want to give it away.....She may have to wait even longer.

I just picked out 5 pieces of coordinating paper which happened to be from My Mind's Eye. I made a template for each point (and side) of the star. I then used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the star. The tricky part with this smaller star is to find pictures that would work. I trimmed each picture using another piece of paper and a Martha Stewart punch. I trimmed out the star with some threaded yarn ribbon that I have had in my stash for almost 8 years now. In the center I added 3 buttons to hide where all of the thread met. I also added some buttons on the points of the star. OOHH by the way, the buttons are from PaperTrey Ink. Now this is where some of you may laugh at me. I couldn't find chipboard letters that would match so I remembered the Staz-On ink pad that I bought awhile ago but never used. WELL I am HOOKED! I want to run out and buy every color!!!! The chipboard letters were glossy and they Staz-On ink had no problem covering it with ease. I distressed the edges and DP with some brown Stampin Up! ink. What is not shown in the picture was the ribbon I am going to add to the top of the star so it will hang properly.

I hope you liked my submission for this week's challenge over at The Sisterhood Crafters. I am also submitting this to the following challenges:
