About Me
- Lisa B
- Carlisle, Pennsylvania
- I am a stay at home mom..now that is! February 19th, 2007 I was involved in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. I awoke in ICU to find out that my only two children Annemarie age 3 and Michael age 5 did not make it. Scrapbooking became such a big part of my life. It helped fill a void that I desperately needed to fill. Our therapist suggested that I take up scrapbooking as a way to memorialize my children, little did she know! So I took that and ran with it.I became obsessed with scrapping and took over the second largest room in my house. Because of my injuries I couldn't go out and get a job, I just scrapped!I printed out 2,000 photos and my journey began. I have made albums for family members and layouts to decorate my craft room. We thought we were done having kids but who expected this tragedy??? I just gave birth in June 2009 to two beautiful baby girls Mia Anne and Gianna Marie named after their brother and sister.I swore that I would keep up with their albums so I won't become overwhelmed so we will see how that works out! My profile picture is the last family picture that was taken of all of us.

Happy Birthday DH!
One of my husbands dreams was to build a hot rod with my son. Sadly that will never happen since my son is now in heaven. But unfortunately since we didn't have kids that urge to build a car was able to materialize because it was just the two of us..no more saving up for kids college etc. I am glad because he really needed this and it kept him really busy. He is rebuilding a 56' Chevy Bel-Air. He had it painted Cobalt blue. When he first told me the colors I was like "UH no!" not a big fan of cobalt blue but then he told me why he wanted to choose those colors. My daughters birth stone is sapphire and my son's eyes were an amazing blue...I then fell in love with the idea. Building this car has been a form of healing for him..same as scrapping does for me. It kills him that his little man isn't with him to help but he plans to do some car shows and stuff for charity.
I went on ebay and found a stamp of a Chevy-Bel Air and I was thrilled! Well that was short lived. I got the stamp in and it is a beautiful sketch but when you stamp it, it comes out completely different and horrible!! I had to use paint, markers, stickles just to make it somewhat useable :( I never complained about anything on ebay but this will be my first! Especially because I planned to use the stamp for a scrapbook for him to show all of the pictures of the rebuild. When I was making this card I was soooo mad I started to cry! I wasn't even going to put this card up but once again "Last Minute Lisa" waited until the day before his birthday to make him a card. But then reality hit and I know the card is just gonna end up in my craft room laying around just like our anniversary card did! Men don't care about this stuff..atleast my man doesn't!
Okay...sorry about the rambling. This is also a continued part of the challenge to use the same sheet of paper until it is all gone (see 2 previous cards/posts). I completed this card to get it into several challenges and they are:
A Spoon full of Sugar Sketch Challenge I replaced the bows with buttons since it was for a man. I choose black buttons to represent "tires"
Color Throwdown challenge
Crafty Creations "Blue" challenge
I included a picture of the actual car in the midst of its journey in being rebuilt as well as a mural that was painted on the back in tribute of my children. Buzz was my son's favorite and Nemo was one of my daughters favorite movies to watch with her Grandpa who was the one who had the mural done to surprise my husband.

ReplyDeleteThis car-card is absolutely amazing....and I loved the story too.
ReplyDeleteHugs. And get this...I owned a 1953 (red and white) , 1954 (turquoise and white) and 1956 (Blue and White) Bel Air Chevy. My high school friend owned a 1955 green Bel-Air which he reconditioned in the 60s, and then my husband and I bought it from him in 1965....I was a Chevy girl through and through and have owned many since.
