About Me

My photo
Carlisle, Pennsylvania
I am a stay at home mom..now that is! February 19th, 2007 I was involved in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. I awoke in ICU to find out that my only two children Annemarie age 3 and Michael age 5 did not make it. Scrapbooking became such a big part of my life. It helped fill a void that I desperately needed to fill. Our therapist suggested that I take up scrapbooking as a way to memorialize my children, little did she know! So I took that and ran with it.I became obsessed with scrapping and took over the second largest room in my house. Because of my injuries I couldn't go out and get a job, I just scrapped!I printed out 2,000 photos and my journey began. I have made albums for family members and layouts to decorate my craft room. We thought we were done having kids but who expected this tragedy??? I just gave birth in June 2009 to two beautiful baby girls Mia Anne and Gianna Marie named after their brother and sister.I swore that I would keep up with their albums so I won't become overwhelmed so we will see how that works out! My profile picture is the last family picture that was taken of all of us.

Pumpkins at the Sisterhood of Crafters

Good morning y'all!  Today is the start of a new challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters. The theme for this challenge is PUMPKINS.  Our Sistah' Diane is hosting the challenge and she is asking everyone to make a project with a PUMPKIN on it.  I used some Graphic 45 Eerie Tales paper to make this card.  The image is so pretty there is not much I needed to do to it.  Plus I wanted to keep it simple and flat so that it could be mailed.

I hope you pop on by and play along with our new challenge at the Sisterhood.  The challenge is a bi-weekly challenge so you all have time to play along.

Have a great day & Happy Crafting!

Sending Sunshine........

Good morning y'all!  Today I am here to share with you a card I made with the recently released Autumn Wishes stamp set from Craftin' Desert Divas.  If you haven't done so already, you need to go on over to their store. OMG she redid the whole store and it is just gorgeous and super easy to shop and browse.

When I saw the sunflower for some reason the first thought I had was to make a sort of Clean and Simple card with it. Believe it or not, for some reason I struggle with CAS cards.  I don't know why since it should be easier, right???? I tend to think it looks to plain and that I need to add more. This is what I came up with. This card can be used as a Get Well, Keep your Chin up,Sympathy, Thinking of you...etc., etc.  It is simple but I think it packs a punch and hopefully puts a smile on the recipient's face.

These kinda cards are great to have in your stash since they can be sent to someone for various reasons. I just love the versatility of that gorgeous sunflower, don't you??

I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color these sunflowers in.  These could also easily be paper pieced and a button used for the center.  This set also comes with a matching die set which you can get HERE. I didn't use the dies on this set because I was going for a flat and simple look. It would look really neat if you took just the head of the sunflower and cut it out with the svg, then used a pop dot to have the flower head pop up a bit. I am laughing because as I type this I am thinking to myself, "Darn it, why didn't I do that on this card??" lol  See, there are so many ways a single stamp can be used! You will be seeing more of these flowers in the near future for sure!

Happy Crafting!

This set can be used for other things besides Autumn.  I love that about stamp sets, being able to use certain elements for other seasons or reasons than just the one.

CDD favorite color combo

Hey y'all!  Today over at Craftin' Desert Divas there is a new linky party that starts today. The theme is your FAVORITE COLOR COMBO. I fell in love with the DOODLEBUG HIP HIP HOORAY paper pad.

I normally would love more neutral colors, but lately in the last year or two I have been loving lots of bright colors. The colors in this paper pad are just adorable. I love, love, love these colors together. They are so fun and bright!!

Recently CDD released these dies called PARTY DIES. OMG, they are so flipping cool!! I am always in need of birthday cards and thanks to these dies it makes it super quick and easy. I was in awe of how neat and clean the dies cut the tiny strings and bows for the balloons. There is no way that your machine would cut something so small so clean. Plus these dies let you use up your scraps!!
I popped up some of the balloons with Foam tape to give them some dimension. I used the FANCY FRAMES dies to cut out all the layers. The sentiment came from the BRING ON THE CAKE stamp set.

My CDD Tutorial on making your own glue dots and embellishments

Hello everyone!  Today is my day over at CRAFTIN' DESERT DIVAS to do the daily post.  I thought I would share with you a simple tutorial on how to make your own glue dots/lines in a cheap and easy way!  I am all about saving money and with this method for under $4 you can literally make thousands of glue dots, embellishments and/or glue lines.  Really any shape and size you need.

I used the GARDEN CUTIES stamp set for the image and sentiment on this card. For the shaker part I combined LILAC SEQUINS as well as some darker purple sequins that are currently out of stock at CDD.  I thought I would make a quick picture tutorial to share with you the method I used to make my glue dots as well as the glitter embellishments. Some may know about this method but for those who do not it really is super easy, and definitely a cheaper method than buying them!

I made a bunch of different colors and sizes to show you the many different ways you can make them. I also created a card (shown above) to show you how they look incorporated into your project.  Now for the glue dots you won't be able to see them in this card, but you will see the glittered glue dots on the top of the card that I created, making my own embellishments.

PHOTO TUTORIAL:

This is a picture of supplies that I used.  I saved an empty roll of the waxed paper from a previous roll of glue dots.  If you don't have this, you can simply use waxed paper. The glue I used is called Alene's Tack-It Over & Over.

Next I randomly dropped dots of glue in different sizes and shapes that I wanted.

These also have some height to them so they also double as a mounting/pop dot of sorts.

Next I sprinkled various shades of glitter over the dots on the ones that I wanted to create my own embellishments with.

Here you will see some that I left plain to use as glue dots as well as more glittered dots. Make sure you leave them out several hours or overnight to dry.  Especially if you are making plain glue dots.  The drying time depends on how thick or big you make them.

When they dried up I cut them into squares so I could shake off the excess glitter. When I do a whole strip of plain glue dots I do not cut the paper.  I simply roll it up like the store bought ones. As you can see here the glue dots are not all the way dried.  I purposely took the picture before they did because you wouldn't see them otherwise.

And that's it folks!! Easy Peasy.  I think I spent under $3 on the bottle of glue I used.  It is still the same bottle I have been using and there is not even a dent in the bottle.  I have probably made hundreds of these already.

You can see in the card above how I incorporated the glittered dots into my card.  I even added a small one in the center of her bow!  This is definitely a great way to save money and get more of what you need.

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial and card that I shared with you today.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Have a great day & HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Photo Inspiration Challenge at the Sisterhood

Hello Everyone! I am back from my hiatus at the Sisterhood of Crafters. I had to take a break due to , well many different things which were going all on at once.  But today is my first day back and I am happy to be hosting the challenge that starts today. Fall is my favorite time of year.  I love everything about it. While searching on the internet I came across this photo (below) and I just loved it.  I thought it would be fun to host a challenge based on that photo.  So that is what I did!

This is the photo that the challenge is based around.

You can basically create anything using this photo as inspiration. I have been trying my hand at watercoloring and blending with all different types of mediums.

First I randomly stamped the corn bundles on watercolor paper.  The corn as well as the sentiment is from my Craftin' Desert Divas LET'S GET STUFFED stamp set. I used my Zig Clean Color and my Waterbrush to color them in.  When they were done I covered each one in glossy accents. Once they all dried I used several different colors of my Tim Holtz Distress inks and blended them all together. I splashed some water on top of that to get the water droplet design.  Next I grabbed my FANCY FRAME dies as well as the oval from my BANNER dies set.  I taped them together to make the necessary frame.

Before I took off the tape I cut out two layers of craft foam to fit the front layer perfectly.  That makes making a shaker card super quick and easy.  For the shaker part I used AUTUMN SEQUINS which is also from Craftin' Desert Divas.

I sure hope you come on by the Sisterhood and play along with your Photo Inspiration challenge.  I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

HAPPY CRAFTING!

Just for Kids Linky Party over at CDD

Good morning everyone!! There is a fun new linky party over at the Craftin' Desert Divas.  The theme is JUST FOR KIDS.

CDD just released a super cute and adorable stamp set called MONSTER MANIA.  I knew right away I had to use it!! The images are just too much fun to color.

I picked the monster I did because it fit perfectly inside the smaller die from FANCY FRAMES.  One of my favorite colors schemes is from Doodlebug's Hip Hop Hooray paper pad.  I colored my card to match the colors in the paper pad. The layers are the other dies from the FANCY FRAMES.  This die set is definitely one of my GO TO die sets and a must have! It makes a simple layer look so awesome!

I also added the matching Doodlebug Birthday Boy Sprinkles.

I hope you come on by and play along with our "Just for Kids" Linky Party!
