About Me

My photo
Carlisle, Pennsylvania
I am a stay at home mom..now that is! February 19th, 2007 I was involved in a car accident while on vacation in Florida. I awoke in ICU to find out that my only two children Annemarie age 3 and Michael age 5 did not make it. Scrapbooking became such a big part of my life. It helped fill a void that I desperately needed to fill. Our therapist suggested that I take up scrapbooking as a way to memorialize my children, little did she know! So I took that and ran with it.I became obsessed with scrapping and took over the second largest room in my house. Because of my injuries I couldn't go out and get a job, I just scrapped!I printed out 2,000 photos and my journey began. I have made albums for family members and layouts to decorate my craft room. We thought we were done having kids but who expected this tragedy??? I just gave birth in June 2009 to two beautiful baby girls Mia Anne and Gianna Marie named after their brother and sister.I swore that I would keep up with their albums so I won't become overwhelmed so we will see how that works out! My profile picture is the last family picture that was taken of all of us.

Christmas in July PKS/KBD hop

Hey everyone!  We are having a super fun Christmas in July Facebook Fanpage hop with Peachy Keen stamps and KaDoodle Bug Designs.  Today is the last day of the four day hop.  You don't want to miss out since there are some amazing prizes be given out.You can find day one of the hop on Facebook HERE .

I wanted to make a small gift for the holidays to hold these Christmas cow pens that I have in my stash.  I tried to turn the Golf Bag from SVG Cuts Fun and Games kit into something that resembled a barn.  To add some detail I used some Sizzix and Tim Holtz embossing folders.  I was gonna keep all the contents inside but last minute I thought they would look cute sticking out.

After taking the photos I went back and added some detail to the cow with paint.  It was to dark to take all new pictures so I took a close up and included it, just slight details to make it pop. I got a little help and the idea from an amazing friend!

Celebrating birthdays

Hello everyone!  I am here to share with you my project that I made for the new challenge being hosted by my fellow Sister Darlene over at the Sisterhood of Crafters. It's all about Birthdays! The challenge is to make any project that is based around BIRTHDAYS.

Since I always have the best intentions to get my cards out on time somehow I am always behind. So I thought I would use a Belated birthday stamp. Sadly I think I need a bunch of these in my stash!! I used this super fun Cupcake card that made it fun to use my scraps. I am going to go back and make a bunch more because these cards are too cute not to and a great way to use my scraps!

A little birdie told me that our Sister Darlene's birthday is next week.  So if you can drop her some love for hosting a great challenge as well as leaving her some birthday love!

Have a great day and HAPPY CRAFTING!

Supplies Used:

Paper: Graphic 45 & various scraps
Tag Punch: Stampin' Up!
Ribbon: LoveBug Creations

Be Inspired with Craftin' Desert Divas

I was honored to be a Guest Designer at Craftin' Desert Divas this month. All month I featured a newly released stamp set called BE INSPIRED.  I had so much fun working with these and they stamped perfectly!

For my last project I made two box cards that I thought fit the sentiment perfectly. I used the Just Breathe and Hang In there sentiments. Love the fact that these fold flat for mailing.  I think these would hopefully lift someone's spirits.

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Be Inspired Stamp set - Craftin Desert Divas
Paper: Echo Park - Sweet Day
SVG Cuts - Box cards

Happy Crafting!

All American!

I finally finished up the last of my Red, White and Blue projects I have been working on.  This adorable baseball hat/box is from SVG Cuts Fun and Games kit.  It is sooo cute and super easy.  I saw the sentiment from Craftin' Desert Divas Snips & Snails set and knew that the "A Star is Born" sentiment would be perfect for it!! How cute would these be for party favors for Showers, birthdays etc.  I simply cut the sentiment to give it a pennant kinda look.

Perfect to stuff with a gift!

There is one more day left to link up to the Craftin' Desert Divas linky party, I made it just in time.  You can too! There are tons of prizes. Click HERE for the Craftin' Desert Divas linky party.

Baby Boy Block Card

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far.  I finally am feeling like myself again so I am determined to get caught up.  Not only on cleaning but in my craft room.  I am trying to do things that I have pinned or bookmarked.  I found this super fun and cute Block card on youtube by Papercrafter45.  It is so fun and simple to make.  The coolest part is it folds flat so you can ship it. I will add a tag to the back so I can write a message to the person I am sending this to.

The papers I used are by Graphic 45's line By the Sea. The adorable puppy is from KaDoodle Bug Designs Salty Dogs file that you can find HERE. And right now there is a sale so the file would only be $2.63! The sentiment I used is from Craftin' Desert Divas SNIPS & SNAILS stamp set which you can find HERE.  They are having a Red, White and Blue linky party so I am gonna link this up to it since I think it fits the bill.

MONOCHROMATIC challenge at the Sisterhood of Crafters

Hello everyone!  It is time for a new challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  The challenge is to make a project Monochromatic.  To be honest I was a little scared of this one.  I never really had much ease doing a monochromatic challenge.  I struggled with it since I was unsure of myself.  But I am very please with how this one came out.

The style of the card is from SVG CUTS Dress shop kit.  I just wanted the design or the base of the card.  Next I used some papers from Stampin' Up! and ribbon from PaperTrey Ink.  Sadly everyone needs these cards in their stash so I made it into a Sympathy card.  I thought it was a very soft card that would work for a Sympathy card.  The stamp I used was from Craftin' Desert Divas SIMPLY SAID stamp set.  I have been using that one a lot lately since there are soooo many different sentiments and it covers many bases.

I hope you play along with our new challenge.  Happy Crafting!

Get Well Soon

Everyone knows it stinks when you are sick and you just feel miserable.  If you can put a smile on someones face who is sick I would say that is a job well done!  I fell in love with these adorable ducks from Too Cute By Jessica's RAINY DAY DUCKS file. If you click on the picture of the complete file it should take you right to the page if you would like to see/purchase it.  TCBJ is having an amazing sale right now.  You can get 90% off your purchase of $50 or more.

I have so many ideas to do with it so I decided to tackle my first one!  I made a Get Well card that holds a travel size pack of tissues. The sentiment I used on the cloud is from Craftin' Desert Divas SIMPLY SAID stamp set and the adorable face is from Peachy Keens PK-482 Winter Wonderland Face Assortment.  The paper I used is from DCWV The Spring Mix Stack.  You may not be able to tell but I popped up the ducky with some dimensionals from Stampin' Up!

I am going to add this as well to the Craftin' Desert Divas Red, White and Blue linky party.

** Enabler Alert ** Right Now Craftin Desert Divas is having a sale.  If you enter the code JUNE you will get 20% off your order.  The sale is good until July 7th!

Red, white and blue challenge

Between my birthday which just past and my surgery I needed to come up with some Thank you cards that were flat and easy to mail.  I have been loving the teal/red combo and found some paper by Cosmo Cricket called Baby Jane that I have been hoarding...I mean holding onto.  I wanted the sentiment to be the focal point so I kept the cards simple.  I used some punches from Stampin' Up! for the labels and the heart.  And I used another sentiment from my SIMPLY SAID stamp set from Craftin' Desert Divas.  They are having a new linky party that started today so I decided to link these up and play along.  There are a lot of great prizes so you should check it out!!

Here is what I came up with.  I hope they will like the cards, they better since I used my "good" paper from my Stash.  You know you are somebody in my book when I use my good paper on you!! lol

Happy Crafting!

Craftin' Desert Divas Linky Party

Hey everyone! I wanted to share with you these projects that I made with some paper that I fell in love with.  I loved all the bright colors.  It is funny how tastes change.  I used to be all about Neutrals and fall colors.  Now I like bright colors.  And I used to hate teal.  Well now I love teal.  Especially red and teal. Craftin' Desert Divas is having a Linky party so I made some projects to play along.  I will be sharing another one tomorrow.

I took the Gable box from SVG Cuts Classic Gift Boxes kit and shrunk it down so I can get two boxes from one sheet of 12x12 paper.  The chick is from their Bunny Hop kit.  I used it because it fit perfectly with the squareness of the head.  Then I used my oval SU Oval and Butterfly punches along with some SU ribbon.

I found a 1" circle punch and punched out some sentiments that I stamped from Craftin' Desert Divas SIMPLY SAID stamp set.  They fit perfectly into the circle!! I was going to add a tag but I liked the different elements, levels and shapes when I added the circle so I left it that way.  I of course had to finish it off with a face from Peachy Keen Stamps APRIL 2013 Stamp of the Month kit.

What you can't see is the other one in the background.  I cut out two each in orange, teal, pink and green.  These would make cute favors or Thank you gifts. They maybe small but you can get a bunch of candy or a small gift in there.

Craftin' Desert Divas New Release Party!

Are you ready to get the sneak peeks started? I am!!
Welcome to Day 1 of our June stamp release party!! Each day we will be giving you a sneak peek at one of the four new stamp sets. Then, on Tuesday and Wednesday, we will have a blog hop with prizes each day. The design team has some amazing creations to start this stamp release party. Today we are showcasing the BE INSPIRED stamp set.

All of the new stamps are 4x6 and Made in the USA. Stamps will be available to order on Tuesday. We would love for you to join usand share your creations with us using Craftin Desert Diva's stamps. In this group we show previews first, have giveaways and much more!!

Here's my project I created:

I used the CHOOSE TO SHINE sentiment from the new BE INSPIRED stamp set.

I designed this card on my Cameo using some files from KaDoodle Bug Designs. I used her LABELS file and welded it to make the card base and the sun as well as the clouds are from the PEARLY WHITE FAIRIES set. It is hard to see in the picture but the sun as well as the clouds I popped up with some SU Dimensionals. This really was a fun card to make. When I saw the sentiment I knew right away that I wanted to base it around a Sun theme.

I can't wait for you to see the whole stamp set. It really is a must have in your stamp collection.

Wedding Bliss

Today starts another new challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters. The theme is Wedding so you can create any project based around a wedding.  Now for some fun I challenged myself to use something old and something new. I have had this paper in my stash for I don't know how many years. I don't even know where I got it since it was a 8x8 size and I don't ever recall buying anything like that.  I found it by accident and fell in love With it. I also had these metal heart stickers if you will for about 6-7 years. I also found this card in my library on my Silhouette and thought that the belly band would work perfectly. Now I needed something new.  I grabbed my newly purchased SIMPLY SAID stamps from Craftin' Desert Divas and it fit perfectly. The gorgeous ribbon is also new from Love Bug Creations.

Showing some Patriotic pride!

Hey everyone! I wanted to get this post up yesterday but we had some bad storms come thru so I had to shut down my computer.  I wanted to share with you a super fun way to show off your Patriotism this coming holiday.  Actually this pin/brooch can be worn 365 days a year!  I also thought it would be fun to make a few of these and give them to people who are currently in the Military or have finished their service, as a way to THANK them for giving us what we have today........Our Freedom!

I took the rosette from the SVG Attic's Vintage Nation kit and sized it to what I needed.  Then I took the outline of the USA from the card and sized that to fit into the center and did an extra layer for matting.  I designed all these sizes to fit around my brand spankin' new set of stamps from Craftin' Desert Divas called CELEBRATE FREEDOM.  I just fell in love with the stamps and have so many ideas to work with that set.  I stamped the first sentiment in the center of the country matting, a second one in a star and then I stamped a bunch of the independence day sentiments so I could cut out the stars.  Then I cut small strips of paper and twirled it around a pencil to make it curl. Oh the paper I used is from Authentique called PRIDE. What you can't tell from the picture is the rosette is made from paper with sheet music (National Anthem/Patriotic).  I punched out two circles out of cardstock and one out of Tyvek.  I layered a jumbo safety pin in between all those layers so it can be attached and worn. Then of course I used my trusty Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink to jazz it all up.

Hope you like it!  Happy Crafting!

Tag you're it!

I am popping in to share with you my newest creation for the new challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  "Tag you're it" is the theme for our new challenge.  We are asking you to create a project based around a tag.  The project could contain a tag on it or the whole project can be the actual tag like I did.

I used a new file from KaDoodle Bug Designs called PND Special Delivery which you can find HERE.  I made the tag from another one of their files using the LABELS set which you can find HERE.   The stamp set I used is from Craftin' Desert Divas called Sugar & Spice and you can find that one in their store HERE. The beautiful ribbon I used was from LoveBug Creations and the paper is from Graphic 45's Botanical Tea line.

I hope you stop on by and play along with us...."Tag you're it!"

All about Babies

Hey everyone!  Today there is a new challenge that I am hosting over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  The challenge is to make a project that has to do with babies.  You can make any project or craft you want as long as it has a Baby theme.  What is even better is that this challenge is sponsored by Craftin' Desert Divas stamp company.  One lucky winner will win a stamp set of their choice!!! So make sure you stop on by and link up to our baby challenge with one of your projects.  I can't wait to see what everyone creates.  This is such a fun challenge!!

I used the SUGAR & SPICE set by Craftin Desert Divas that was recently released.  It is a girl themed set but some stamps can be used for a boy as well.  I made this to hold a gift certificate that I got for a receptionist at my girls school that just had a baby. I thought it was a cute way to give a gift, hope they like it!

I used the booties from Too Cute By Jessica's Bundle of Joy set.

Happy Crafting!

Things with Wings

Hello everyone!  Popping in here today to share with you a card that I made for a friend that is going thru some tough times.  This is for the new challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  The theme is "Things with Wings". I used the card base from SVG Cuts Poplar Street Tulips set and papers are from the Believe paper pad by Prima. The stamp I have had for some time, it is by Paper Inspirations and shows Proverbs 3:5-6.  I added some 3D butterflies using my Stampin Up! punch.  I hope she likes it!

Hope to see you playing along with our Things With Wings challenge over at the Sisterhood. So many different avenues you can go with that one.

Have fun and most of all HAPPY CRAFTING!

Animals at the Sisterhood

Good afternoon everyone, it's time for another fun challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters. For this challenge it is all about ANIMALS.  We are asking you to make a project with an Animal theme.

I take my girls to the YWCA for a class called Dinosaur School.  The kids go to school downstairs and the parents go to school upstairs.  The idea is to teach the kids how to deal with their feelings, attitudes etc. and the parents go to school upstairs and get lessons on how to deal with their kids and their issues.  One of my twins is very STRONG WILLED to say it nicely.  So in effort to be the best parents we could and to offer them the best chance at life we decided to sign them up.  It is like a 16-20 week course, I lost track of the time.  My girls love it and they even give you dinner!! The course is free and I would definitely recommend it if they have one in your area.

In the course they teach them all about their feelings and how to deal with them.  They even made a calm down thermometer when they get angry.  It teaches them how to calm down.  One of the things they teach is to "Smell the flowers, and blow out the candles" which in turn means breath in and blow it out.  This is to help you calm down when you feel yourself getting mad.  My girls have really been talking about their feelings ever since they started this course.  Keep in mind they are four so when you hear one of them say "Mommy I am feeling very frustrated" it just makes you laugh.  They also play "Detective" to help them look for solutions to their problems.  Overall it is really a neat course.  Sad to say next week is our last week.

One of their recent lessons is to go into your "Turtle Shell" to protect yourself from hurt, anger and just to calm down.  Now the turtle shell is imaginary and a figure of speech of course.  You can either crawl into a turtle shell shape on the floor or go to your imaginary turtle shell to protect you. Sadly there are many kids subject to abuse, bullying etc so this tool is to help them cope.  My kids thank goodness haven't dealt with that yet but my one has lots of meltdowns and I think it is from not being able to communicate.

So when they were telling me about this lesson I decided to create a Turtle box for them.  Something where they can keep pictures of things that make them feel happy, safe or calm.  I created this 3D turtle from a file I found by SnapDragon Snippets in the Silhouette Store. I enlarged it to 130% to make it the biggest I can. My idea behind this was for them to keep things inside whether it be pictures, little notes or items that they treasure. That way when they are upset or sad they can go into their Turtle Shell and find their happy place.

I am happy to report that my daughter has made a complete 180.  Her temper tantrums have decreased by 90%, she is talking more about what makes her happy and sad instead of just freaking out.  Hopefully this tool I made with help her continue down that path.

I took the shape from the part that covers up the foot and made cut it into different sizes to make some decoration on the shell. I inked it up with some Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and used an eye from Peachy Keen Stamps teddy bear assortment set.  I have it stamped on both sides so it can look great either way.  My girls got a bit crazy with the spots but they love it!

I hope you play along with our Animal challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.

Sentimental journey

Happy Hump day everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the nicer weather we have been having.  I know we are.  In PA we had a horrible winter and even when the temps are in the 40's it feels like summer so I will take it!

Today starts another challenge over at the Sisterhood of Crafters.  Our newest Sistah' Diane is hosting a challenge with a theme of "Sentimental Journey".  We asked that you create a project making the sentiment the main focal point instead of the normal image.  I gotta tell you I love making cards like this.  We have a friend who is having a baby soon and I came up with this card for her baby shower.  I used the papers that matched a project that I made for her and the colors also match the theme she has in the nursery. I used paper from Stampin up! and a stamp from a company that went out of business.

I hope you come and join us in our Sentimental Journey at the Sisterhood.  Have a great day and as always, HAPPY CRAFTING!
